"DEAD" AUCKLAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — I fully agree with your correspondent "Fed-up," when he says Auckland is dead. After living in Auckland for a year or two one finds there is nowhere to go, nothing to do, while the monotonous stream of "dopey" people (as the American sailors described tlionn who parade the street, in this one-street city, seemingly with no objective, bores one to death. The ordinary apathetic, slow-moving Auckland citizen seems to be content with as little excitement as one would find in a country village.—l am , , etc., AN'TT-GLOOM. J
