A FATHER'S SUICIDE.
SYDNEY, August 10
The State Cabinet lias decided to release the young man, David Winckler, who was condemned to death on a charge of murdering his father, Franz Winckler, at Wentworthvillc. The Appeal Court had on Friday dismissed Winckler's appeal against the death sentence. — (A. and X.Z. Cable.) ~
Winckler the elder lived in agony, suffering from an incurable disease. He begged his son repeatedly to kill him. His son, to whom lie was devotedly attached, and who had reciprocated the affection, wa3 ultimately persuaded to obtain a revolver and to give it to his father. The son retired from his father's room and waited for the shot. The jury found Winckler guilty and recommended him to mercy. 'The judge condemned the young man to death, declaring it was lunlikelv the sentence would be carried out. On appeal" the judges upheld the sentence.
