The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports: We held sales during the past week at Westneld. Pukekohe and Papakura, also one clearing sale at Hunua. Dairy cows and heifers sold at late quotations. Store cattle or all descriptions have improved considerably in values, and there is a keen demand ror grown steers in rorward condition, which have realised very high values. We quote: Dairy cows and heirers, close to protlt, best £12 to £15 10/, others £8 to £11 10/; backward springers, best £7 15/ to £9 10/, others £5 to £7 10/: other cows, £2 10/ to £4 15/; bulls, £2 10/ to £6 10/; empty cows, £2 5/ to £3 17/6; yearling to 18-months heirers, £2 to £4 10/; yearling to 18-months steers. £3 17/6 to £5 17/6; 2 to 2i-year steers, £6 to £7; 3 to 3*-year steers, £7 2/6 to £8 5/; 4 to 4*-year steers,' £8 7/6 to £9 2/6; grown steers in rorward condition, £9 10/ to £10 17/. The rat sheep were or an average "National" class, there being a fine display or show stock. Prices were also good in other sections, notably pigs, which sold very freely.

Store Sheep.—There was a brisk sale, with prices generally above recent rates, hoggets selling particularly well. An outstanding line or hairbred ewe hoggets sold at -in/6, and a pen ol threc-quarter-bred adult wethers at 39/9. Values were: Good liallbred owe hoggets, to 4 5/0; three-quarter-bred, 35/1 to 36/6; crossbred, a 1/1 to 3 6/; mixed sexed thrce-quartor-bred hoggets, 27/9 to 32/0; sound-mouthed three-quarter-bred ewes in lamb, 42/ to 42/6; aged ewes, 20/ to 2S/G; two-toothed hairbred ewes in lamb. 40/U; six and eight-toothed Ualfbred wethers, 39/; two and Tour-toothed, 35/6 to 37/6; six and eight-toothed three-quarter-bred wethers, 39/9.

Spring Lamb.—About 20 small spring lambs were lorward, and sold at from 25/ to 37/ G.

Tat Sheep.—Outside entries included North Otago, South Otago. and Southland lines. The sale was easier at the commencement by 1 / a bead on last week, but hair way through there was a hardening market, and values at the close lor butchers' sheep were 1/ to 1/6 better than last salp. There was spirited competition Tor show sheep, the top price being £7 12/G carh Tor three Shropshire Romhey cross wethers, sold by Mr. F. Bull (Wad-ding-ton). Quite a number or pens made rrom £3 to £i. There were very rew outstanding ewes forward. Extra prime show wethers, £4 8/ to £7 12/0; good, £3 3/ to £i 5/; extra prime ordinary wethers, 54/ to 007; prime, 49/ to 53/; medium, 45/ to 48/0; light. 40/ to 44/; prime ewes, 41/ to 45/; medium, 37/ to 40/0; light, 30/ to 30/0; prime hoggets, 40/ to 50/; ordinary, 29/ to 35/.

Fat Cattle.—Cattle were forward from Wairarapa, South Otafro, and all parts or Canterbury Province. The entry was well on the small side Tor the fortnight's requirements, and values were up on the previous sale by £ i a head Tor prime medium weight beef, and £3 Tor heavy. Choice medium weight beer made £3 3/ per 1001b, prime medium weight, 57/6 to 61/; light prime, 53/ to 57/; heavyweight beer, 49/ to 55/; extra heavy, ■i~/G to 52/6; inferior and rough beer, 35/ to 40/. The top price was £41 for a bullock sold by Mr. G. A. Renton (Stirling). Local bullocks made up to £35; extra prime show bullocks, £30 to £41; prime heavyweight steers, £24 to £28; medium heavyweight steers, £10 to £22; medium steers, £17 to £19 10/; light steers, £12 lo £16 10/; extra prime show heirers, £20 to £25; prime, £15 10/ to £18 1/; ordinary, £11 to £15; extra heavy cows, £19 to £23 2/6; prime, £15 to £17 10/; medium, £10 15/ to £14 10/; light. £8 to £10 10/; aged, £6 to £7 10/. Store Cattle.—There was a small entry or poor stuff, with no straight lines. Dairy Cattle.—An advance of 30/ a head was shown on last week. Best springing rows, £9 to £14; medium, £6 to £8 10/; best heirers, £5 10/ to £7 10/; others, £2 to £5. I Fat Pigs.—There was a medium entry, and a good sale.
