ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT.
VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY.
Three charges of having indecently assaulted a girl, aged 11, were preferred against 1 Arthur' Ejertie Wallbank (Mr. Singer) in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Meredith stated that the mother of the girl was a widow and had been employed by accused as housekeeper. The offences "were alleged to have taken place while the woman was ill in bed. In evidence the- girl gave details of the three alleged assaults. She did not tell her mother until some months aftervards.
Acting Dj/tective White said that he interviewed accused, who made a statement denying the allegations.
Mr. Singer submitted that the case •was based on the uncorroborated story of the girl, and that the alleged offences were many months old.
The jury, after a brief retirement, returned a verdict of not guilty on all three counts.
