THE ANNUAL REPORT. A SATISFACTORY YEAR. • The annual meeting or the, Auckland Racing Club is announced. to be held on Monday, August 10. The report and statement or accounts to be presented states: The club held the usual Tour, meetings, which were each successful from both a sporting and financial viewpoint, the prize money amounting: to £66,550. For the ensuing season it Is proposed to reduce the number of races per day to seven, and the advertised prize money win amount to £65,800. During the past year considerable improvements to the course proper and training tracks were effected, and rurther work in. this direction win be carried out in the ensuing seasons- as opportunity offers. The erection of a tea kiosk in the saddling paddock enclosure should meet with general approval, and add to the attractions enjoyed by the many thousands who visit Ellerslie throughout the year.'The committee rerer with regret to the removal by death or Mr. Charles" Hanson, for many years a- steward of the club, Blso the rollowing members: Messrs. G. R. Bloomneid, B. A. Bodle, Jas. MUir, A. R. Seccombe, J. A. Slater, J. B. Turner, and Colonel W. H. O'Neill. The following nominations of office-bearers Tor the ensuing year have been received: President, Sir Edwin Mltchelson, K.G.M.G., M.L.C.; vice-president. Mr. H. O. Nolan; committee (5 seats), Messrs. J. M. Carpenter. R. w. Duder, J. D. Jones, N. Airred Nathan and Dr. A. McGregor Grant; stewards (3 seats), Messrs. M. J. Lynch, L. C. Rathbone and G. A. Wynyard. As these are Just sufficient to' flu the vacancies, no ballot will- be necessary.

The balance-sheet shows liabilities totalling- £157,380 18/10, including- capital £111,805 10/6. Rank of New Zealand £32,935, secured creditors £8046 12/3, and Auckland Institute and Museum £4000. The club's chief assets are: Racecourse, £34,500; Shortland Street property, £3500; buildings, stands, etc., £75,400; totalisator bouse, machine, etc., £26,250. The profit and loss account shows: To salaries and pensions, £2351 15/; wages, £12,950 "14/10; material, £1093 16/8; insurance, £550 8/10; interest, £2966 12/11; land tax, £1602 11/9; rates, £1920 8/6; printing:, stationery and 'advertising:, £1239 15/4; repairs and maintenance, £6063 15/1; conference levies, £1292 7/3; charges account, £858 4/5; donations, £356 6/; depreciation written ofT buildings, totalisator riiachines, plant etc., £11,75 6 17/1-1; balance • transferred to capital account £3091 7/; a total of £49,01.1 9/5. On the other side the account' shows: By members* Subscriptions, £2663; members' motor stalls rents, fins 13/; rents and grazing:, £696 16/; track fees, £734 -10/;- and revenue from race meetings, £44,798- 10/5.
