DIAMOND WEDDING.

MR. AND MRS. GEORGE IVIL.

The diamond wedding breakfast of Mr. and Mrs. George Ivil will take place to-night in St: Matthew's school room. Ten of the eleven children of the couple were christened at St. Matthew's Church. The Rev. W. E. Gillam, former vicar of that church, will preside tornight. Mr. George Ivil was married at St. Peter's Church, Onehunga, on August 1, 1865, by the Rev. Dr. A. G. Purchase, to Miss' Jane Jordan, daughter of the late Mr. W. Jordan.

Mrs. Ivil, who is now in her 80th year, arrived in Auckland in the ship Caduceus, on March 5, 1864. The family settled at Onehunga. Mr. Ivil was born at Pondlebury, Lancashire, 82 year ago, and arrived in Auckland by the ship Arbeg on December 17. 1864. Mr. Ivil opened the first hairdressing and tobacconist's sho~', in Auckland.

The aged couple hla,ve the following children:—Mesdames S. P. Howard, H. C. Williams, R. J. Carter, E. Davis and G. Rainey, of Auckland, and Mrs. A. E. Macindoe, of Napier, and Messrs. W. G. Ivil, A. E. Ivil, E. Ivil, T. Ivil and L. S. Ivil, of Auckland. There are nineteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchil-dren, there being a total of 42 descendants in three generations.
