OBITUARY.

LIEUT.-COLONEL REPINGTON. LONDON. May 27. Lieutenant-Colonel Repington. the wellknown war correspondent, died siuldenlv from apoplexy.— (Renter.) Lieutenant-Colonel Charles a'Court Repington was 09 years of age. He went into the Rifle Brigade from Sandhurst in IS7S, immediately taking part in the fighting in Afghanistan, and served in many campaigns, including the South African war. In the Great War he was correspondent for several London papers, and opinions are extremely mixed as to whether his war and postwar prophecies were those of an inspired soldier or a querulous gentleman of the nld school. Those who knew Colonel Repington declare him to have been entirely typical of the crusted but perfect gentleman of the old-time army, alternate pepper and sugar. He wrote well and authoritatively and was dogmatic on his subject. He wrote "After the War,' , "Vestieia." and the "Diary." and thousands of columns of newspaper matter.
