On Tuesday pvpiiinjj last Mr. A. .1. Xininio, a director of a company in Wellington, arrived in Knssell and next day he went out to the fitdiiujj jirounda'in the Alma (i. Arriving at Cape Brett at 10 a.m.; he steamed round, secured bait and by 11 a.m. had his first swordlish hooked. ' In tin hour and a few iiiilltilpa time the (lull was caught and safely secured to the launch. Just about i p.m., be said to the skipper of tlie launch, "We will leave shortly and lie buck in Russell early." No sooner lincl he spoken than a cry was raised "There she goc3" and the second swordfish was hooked. This fish put up a great light and took four hours to land, the aimler being very tired at the finish. The weights of the fi'nh were 200 and 20151h respec tively. Mr. E. C. Arlidge. secretary of the Swordlish and Mako Shark (Tub, said:
"This has been n record season. The catch to date includes: Sti swordtish. 2.1 mako shark. :J thresher shark, and 5 hammerheaded shark; amongst these several world's records. The club has a membership of 104. amongst them three ladies. One lady has two swordfish to her credit and the'other two one each. Deep sea fishin"- this season is by no means finished. as many bijr fish, including swordfish, mako shark. kinfcHeh, hnpuka, thresher shark, and hammerheads, are to be caught now and ill the ne.\i lnoir.h or so as at any other time in the year."
