FIRE AT PAEROA.
« (Ky Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, this day. Fire occurred at 9.30 last night in a cottage owned by Mrs. J. Coote, near i the Commercial Hotel, and occupied by an old lady named Mrs. Clifford. She was asleep when the fire broke out, and would have perished but for the timely arrival of helpers. Nothing was saved, though the brigade did good work, the house being gutted throughout. The house was insured in the British Traders' office for £300. The outbreak I originated near the fireplace in which a fire had been burning earlier in the evening. The dwelling was one of Pacroa's early landmarks.
