WAITEMATA POWER BOARD.

(To the Editor.! c; r , Much has already been written on the above subject but up to date the correspondence lias apparently all emanated from the North Shore. For that reason I shall be glad if you will grant mc space to state the ease as it affects the Henderson-Glen Eden District, where much interest is being manifested in this question. It is clear that Henderson and Glen Eden will not be reticulated until they can show the district to be a payable proposition, and the twelve months tale of Mr. Hayden when speaking here last week is bunkn- as Ido not think that even Mr. Hayden would claim tLat Henderson and ("Hen Eden would be considered a ■payable proposition for some considerable period, but let the ratepayers remember that they have to pay once this loan is passed whether they get electricity or not. As for our neighbours. Oratia and Te Atatu. they also ill have to pay once this loan is passed, but their prospects of getting electric power are comparatively hopeless i* they have to comply with the business standard laid down so emphatically Hγ. Hayden. and first show " a pavablt proposition." With regard to the qnes tion of amalgamation with the Aucklam Power Board. Mr. Hayden stated a 1 Henderson last Thursday very emphati rally that the Minister would not changi liis mind. But the Minister himself ha settled the question by his letter o March 13th, wherein he" states that hi has never beep approached by th< Waitemata Power Board on the smbjee of amalgamation with the Aucklam Power Board and that he is open ti consider any suggestions put forward I suggest that the only sensible cours. is for the ratepayers to turn down tin proposed loan and petition the Ministe and Cabinet to promote amalgamate with the Auckland Power Board. B' domg so I believe we shall cc electricity in the district all the soonei 1 am - c "-. J. H. HAVES
