Three conflagrations occurred in i Tokyo this afternoon, one of which is j reported to have destroyed three thou- J sand buildings, rendering twenty thou- { sand homele?.*. It is feared there are J many casualties. j Troops were called out to make a fire- j break and check the progress of the ; flames. The work of the firemen was , severely hampered by a strong gale and ; lack of water. Other fires destroyed about sixty houses each before being controlled.— (Reuter.)
