JOINING THE CITY.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l think that both Mount Eden and Mount Albert should come iuto the city for the concessions and many considerations they hare got from the city. They are connected with the city water supply, drainage and tram service, and are still pressing for further tram extensions. The council has certainly given much more consideration to these suburbs than to their own ratepayers at Point Chevalier. It is now over four years since this suburb joined the city and they have neither a tram service nor a good main highway. A start was made about a year ago to widen Great North Road at Surrey Crescent, but this work was stopped about five months ago and apparently no effort is to be made to go on with it. This was part of the loan proposals submitted to the ratepayers last December, and unquestionably one of the most urgent works. The ratepayers of this part of the city appear very indifferent to their interest. It is unfortunate this district has no representative on the council, and being a working man's district it has not received fair consideration by the council since joining the city. It certainly has a prior riaht to tram extensions when the council ~ha3 this question under consideration in the future, and a more urgent consideration for going on. and completing the Great North Road in concrete to Point Chevalier Hall, which is already sanctioned by the ratepayers. —I am, etc-, POEsT CHEVALIER RATEPAYER.
