THE AUCKLAND COLLEGE. COUNCIL APPOINTED. » (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Tuesday. The following were to-day appointed by the Congregational Union a council for the training- college, to be opened in Auckland shortly:—The Revs. Harry Johnson (moderator), H. J. Huffadine (Christclmrch), W. M. Holland (Wellington), W. Sanders (Dunedin), Stanley Morrison, Lionel Fletcher, and Ivan Stebbins, Dr. Eisdall Moore, and Mr. Harold Enor (Auckland). Mr. Stebbins was appointed secretary of the college With regard to immigration, the Rev. Lionel Fletcher outlined a plan which liad been approved by the Government by which selected immigrants could be nominated by the church, and he urged that the Congregational Church of New Zealand should arrange with the Congregational Churches of England to select families for nomination, and that the churches here should receive them and settle them in employment. This, he said, had been done with great success in other places, and other denominations were taking the matter up. The Rev. Lionel Fletcher and the Rev. G. R. Weeks were appointed to organise the work in New Zealand. The afternoon was devoted to a discussion on improving the methods of work in connection with the Young People's Congregational Association.
