TRAGEDY AT CROSSING.
TRAIN SMASHES MOTOR.
YOUNG BABY KILLED.

WOODVILLE, Tuesday,
The WelHngton-Napier express crashed into a motor car driven by Mr. S. Willis, farmer, of Foxton, at theMcLean Street crossing, and threw it against the railway gates a mangled heap of metal.
The passengers, Mr. Willis, his wife and a baby six weeks old, were all hurt, Mr. Willis receiving a fractured thigh and cuts and bruises on the face, and Mrs. Willis concussion and shock. The baby suffered a fracture of the skull and died after admission to the Pahiatua Hospital.
The parents are also in the hospital. They are reported to be progressing.
