A MISSING CREW.
MUCH WORRIED CAPTAIN.
WAITING FOR HOTELS TO CLOSE. (By Telegraph.-rOwn Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The coastal steamer Holmdale arrived in Wellington last Thursday and went on the slip for cleaning and painting. She came off the slip on Friday, and was to have sailed on Saturday for Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru, but as there was no labour call she was delayed. The crew were given time off each day, but were ordered to report at five o'clock.
Yesterday the local agents received word from the head office at Wanganui to send her down almost empty, her cargo being etill piled on the" wharf. She was posted to sail at 5 p.m. At 5 o'clock only one fireman put in an appearance, and it was decided to wait until the hotels closed, and sailing time was postponed until 8.30 p.m., whom only one seaman had arrived. He immediately went to his bunk. The firemen added to the captain's worries by declaring that if the vessel did not get away they would give notice. Again sailing time Was fixed for 10.30. By 10.30 a second sailor was on board. The Holmdale is still in port.
