DOMESTIC DIFFERENCES.

RECRIMINATIONS IN COURT. "When I went to my husband's room I found another woman there," declared a defendant in the Auckland Magic- ! tratc's Court to-day in opposing her j husband's application for a reduction of the Court order compelling him to pay her £3 per week maintenance. The "applicant, in reply to Mr. Schramm, said he was a carpenter earning an average wage of £5 12/, but Mr. Jacobsen, for the wife, said the man had made £7 weekly for the last eight weeks. Applicant said it cost him £3 a week to live. Giving evidence, the wife said her husband went out frequently with another woman. Mr. Schramm: Since your separation, how often have you seen your hueband and scratched his face?—l have never touched him. On my word of honour I have never scratched him. Have you done any work since the order was made?—No, I am not fit to work. The Magistrate: She does not need to work if she can get money from her husband. The husband, in evidence, said he did not refuse to keep up payments under tho order, but he could not afford £3. The Magistrate: What about the other lady?— That is all tommy rot. My wife found a lady there, but that is not to say I am living with her. The Magistrate: It is rather dangerous to have lady friends in your bedroom. The magistrate could not find that circumstances had altered since the order was pranted, and he accordingly refused to make a variation, although he remarked that he did not think he would himself have fixed so large a figure.
