SEQUEL TO BIGAMY.
MAN THREATENS WOMAN. BOUND OVER FOR TWELVE MONTHS. Ernest Harold McLean (37) was charged before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., to-day, with having threatened to do a young woman bodily harm, and with holding her by the arm and stating: "If I meet you in the street again I will cut your throat. If I had a razor I would do it now." Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who appeared for the complainant, stated that everything went well with his client, until one day in a northern town the accused went through a form of marriage with her, and as a result of the union two children were born. The complainant found out that the accused was already married, and as a result he was found j guilty of bigamy and sentenced to a j term of imprisonment. On Friday last i a decree of nullity of this marriage was made by his Honor, Mr. Justice Herd- ! man, and on the following Monday . accused met the complainant and made the serious threat, which was the subject of the charge. Counsel stated that he did not want to be unduly severe on McLean, but he wanted to have it made perfectly clear to the accused that he must not repeat the offence in the future. Accused pleaded guilty, regretted what he had done, and stated that the matter would not occur again. The magistrate ordered him to be bound over for twelve months to keep the peace.
