TRADE WITH THE EAST.
A MONTHLY SERVICE.
SWAYXE AXD HOYTE LINE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. As a direct result of the proposal made some time ago that Xew Zealand should enter into a reciprocal trade with Java and the Far East the Swayne and Hoyte Shipping line of America, has decided to inaugurate a monthly service from thp Dominion. Advice* to this effect has just been received by Messrs. Burns, Philp and Co. Steamers of the Swayne and Hoyte line load at monthly intervale at Pacific coast ports for tlie four Xew Zealand main ports and Australia. Instead of proceeding to the Philippines from Australia, as in the past, the vessels will proceed direct to Java. The first steamer to load in New Zealand ports for Java will be the West Cahokia. This vessel is due at Auckland on September 8 from Pacific coast ports, and is expected at Wellington about September 15. Besides discharging American cargo at Auckland Wellington, Dunedin and Bluff, tlie West Cahoj-ia will load Dominion products at those ports for Java.
