The same player cut through strongly a little later, but hung on too long aud the light blues cleared. iionk missed several opportunities by kicking. From a kick through, the jit. Albert forwards followed up last and Ewen obtained. In a run three-quar-ters the length of the field, he outpaced the opposition and scored a tine try which Monk converted. The visiting forwards with Foute leading made a strong attack, but Wilson saved with a nice kick to touch. Light play ensued in neutral territory, and for scrum Infringements the visitors were awardetl a couple of penalties. McKae s kick just failed as the bell went for the second spell.
Jenkin opened the second quarter with a great cut In, but he was unsupported. Whaugarei tried opening it up, but &ue fast work of Harrop and Eweii broke it up. 'lue light blues then obtained from a scrum and the b:ii ks made a line run, Wilson drawing the defence nicely before letting it out. Kirlcpatrick capped some pretty play with a try at the comer. Mt. Albert opened it up again, but Wilson was tackled in possession. ■Sound tackling also accounted for Monk a little while later. The home team was playing pretty football, but D. Wilson, the visitors' skipper, pumed high and following up fast had ilt. Albert in dliliculties, oil'slde play nullifying. Kirkpatrick then opened It up and the ball went right across the lield to Ash who inpassed to Monk. The centre sent it in to Wilson who dived over. Mouk goaled with a beautiful kick as the bell went for the end of the first half.
On resumption an exchange of kicks between Butler and Itcrguu saw the former llud the line. The Alt. Aibert forwards then made a strong attack, Abbott savins nicely- Fast following up by the Whangarel forwards saw Ash taken in possession but Jcnkin cleared weil. Another Whaniiurei attack was averted In tue nick or time by I'irritt. Bergan then made a good rim, but Bark accounted for him well. From a seimu just outside Mt. Albert's twentylive, I'irrit's pass went astray and Butier failing to hold it, U. Wilson dashed through to score a try which Kuote converted. Good play by Abbott put the visitors on attack, but D. Wilson kicked too hard, Ewen marking. The visiting forwards took the offensive and were attacking when the spell ended.
In the last spell Mt. Albert obtained from several scrums, buc their passing broke down. Then the visitors secured and It came out to Tilly who beat several men before letting it out, Sauutiers eventually getting over to score a nice try. When the ball was set In play again, Wilson Had ML Albert In difficulties with a high punt, Ewen clearing. Harrop and Bark then led a light bjue attack, but Abbott marked nicely and the same player made a nice ojjcniug a little later, his pass lnfleld going astray. Mt. Albert then showed up in a nice passing rush, but Ash knocked on and from the resulting serum, D. Wilson broke through strongly. The home team's forwards came back with a nice passing run, but Mcltue saved with a good punt, Butler marking. Mcßae then Intercepted and cut through strongly, Moses overtaking him- in the nick of time. From a scrum, Mt. Albert hooked and good passing let Ash away, but he was soundly tackled by Atjbott, and the game ended in midfield with the scores Mt. Albert Grammar 13 Whangarei Hlch 8 Mr. G. Pearce was referee.
