ELECTRICITY POPULAR.
BIG INCREASE FOR QUARTER. DOUBLE LAST YEAR'S FIGURES. Regarding the operations for the quarter the general manager to the Auckland Electric Power Board (Mr. A. Wyllie) reported at yesterday's meeting of the board that further progress had been made in installing the third 000 k.w. set at the power station. Since April 1 the whole of the tramway load had been carried at King's wharf, and the tramway sub-station plant had proved very satisfactory. There had also been a constant increase in the alternating current load, due to steady additions from the extended reticulation and from the city. At five o'clock there were now two 0000 k.w. set* well loaded. The maximum alternating current loads reached during the quarter was 0700 kilowatts, that is to say, nearly full load for two 5000 kilowatt sets. The total maximum load on the station during the winter was 14,520 kilowatts, which was a very good load for the present station power. In connection with future tramway requirements Mr. Wyllie said he was placing on order the additional feeder switch panels for Hobson Street, Kingsland, Newmarket, and Epsom substations, and these would be erected in good time for any future feeder needed by the tramways. Following is a summary of the results of the quarter's operations:— WXi. 1024. Units generated T..4F5.700 ll.2Srt.lon Units sold 4,31:1,41".
