The Hons. W. F. Geddes and W. Stewart, M.L.C.'s, were passengers by last evening's express for Wellington. Professor John Adams, the eminent educationist, and Mrs. Adams, arrived from England by the Makura yesterday, and are staying at the Central Hotel. Messrs. W. T. Longwcll and H. Salisbury, Detroit, and Mr. J. L. Conway. Victoria, British Columbia, arrived in Auckland by the Makura yesterday, and arc at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. H. Murrows (Sydney), H. C. Romas (San Francisco), C. Moiikhouse (Broadway. New York), and W. A. Esson (Wellington), are at the Central Hotel. After nine years' work in the mission 6elds of Inland China, Mr. and Mrs. Keuben Richardson, with their four children, have returned to Dunediii on furlough. Messrs. S. Makin (Wellington). O. P. Carter (Gisborne), A. Warbrick (Rotorua), W. E. Jackson (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. J. N. La'.vsoii (Dunedin), and Mr. and Mrs. G. (Cambridge) are guests at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. J. Holdswortli, chairman of tlio Auckland Power Board, and Mr. S. .1. Harbutt, will act as the board's representatives at the Electric Power Boards' Conference, to be held at Wellington on August c>. Mr. George Cruickshank, R.M., of Tiivereargill. is leaving for a six-weeks holiday visit to Australia next- month. He will be relieved by Mr. H. W. Bundh-. S.M., of Dunedin, who in turn will bu relieved by Mr. Dixon, S.M., of Gore. Colonel R. A. Steel, who arrived by the Makura. is at present at the Grand Hotel. He intends staying in New Zealand for three months, and will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Acton Adams, Te l'apapa. Guests at the Star Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. B. Foote (Timaru), Mr. and Mrs. R. Hannon (Cambridge), Messrs. H. W. Heslop (Christchurch), 0. N. Gillespie and R. Bell (Wellington), H. A. Innes-Jones (Tauinarunui). and M. E. McGawry (Eltham). Mr. C. H. Poole, at one time member for Auckland West, who recently completed an extensive tour of the United States with the Chatauqua, returned to Auckland by the Makura yesterday, after a short visit to Fiji. It is Mr. Poole's intention to settle in AucklandMr. E. W. Allison, managing director of Messrs. J. C. White and Co., London, ■who was in the Dominion in connection with the tenders for the Arapuni contract, left Wellington to-day by the Maunganui for England. Messrs. W. E. Perm., U.S.A.. accompanied by Mrs. Bane and two children, are through passengers on the Makura. I Mr. X. Pemberton Billing arrived from Vancouver yesterday., and leaves for Australia by the Makura to-day. Mr. Billing was at one time the member for East Herts in the House of Commons, and is a retired flight commander. Hp founded and edited the '"Aerocraft." Mr. Billing will return to Xew Zealand on completion of his business in Australia.
