WHITE HORSE CUP. WAIPA STILL, UNBEATEN. The Country Week tourney under the auspices of the Auckland Hockey Association, in which six men's teams are competing for the White Horse Cup, and five ladies' teams for the Ladies' Provincial Cup, -was continued yesterday afternoon. Botli the leading games of the afternoon were close and exciting. In the White [ Horse Cup competition Franklin and Rodney were expected to fight out a game tn which the scoring would be close, with Franklin having rather the best, of things. As the game turned out, it certainly was exciting, for both sides consistently missed good scoring chances which, would have made the scoring high had they been availed of. Rodney, however, dominated the position almost throughout, and won by three goals to nil. Crofcer, Martin, and Hood were the scorers. Piako and Whangarei fought out a most closely contested game in which neither side scored till near the finish of play. Then Harvey placed Piako in the lead, but almost immediately Hamilton equalised the scores, and the game ended in a draw. Waipa, who had opened the series by defeating the cup holders, Piako, had an easy game against Thames, whom they defeated by five to nil. The points at the close of yesterday's play stood :—Waipa G, Rodney 4, Franklin 3, Whangarei 3, Piako 2, Thames 0. THE LADIES' GAMES. The outstanding match of the ladies' games was that between Auckland A and Whangarei. Here the girls from tho North started off very well, and were early in the lead by two goals to one, but they were unable to sustain the pace, and the Aucklanders quickly added four goals to one more by their opponents. Last year's winners, King Country A, were well held for a time by Waikato, but eventually they put the issue well beyond doubt. The results are :— Auckland A, 5 (Misses Lowo 3, Mead, Dodds), beat Whangarei, 2 (Mrs. MartinMiss Hill). King Country A, 5 (Miss E. Carlson 3, Miss Cassels 2), beat"Waikato, 1 (Mies Newell). Auckland B, 1 (Miss Kelly), drew with King Country B, 1 (Miss Fraser). Franklin, 2 (Miss Mciklejohn, Miss McDonald), beat Piako, 0. The positions of the teams arc: Auckland A 6 points.
