DEVONPORT YACHT CLUB.

ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT? The Devonport Yacht Club held a social in the Masonic Hall. Victoria Koad, last evening, when the prizes won during the past season were presented. Mr G. MeKenzie, commodore, presided, "being supported by the Mayor, Mr. T. Lamont, Vice-Commodore J. Trevethick, and Rear-Commodore W. T. Shaw. Amongst the guests were Capt. H. H. Sergeant, harbourmaster, and representatives from several city clubs. Mr. MeKenzie stated that the club had made very good progress since it had been re-established a year ago, and the thanks of members were due to their many friends for donations to the prize fund. The prizes were distributed bj- Mr. Lamont, who gave a fen- words of advice to the ladies on the good qualities ot yachtsmen as suitable mates. The prizes were valued at over £100 and made a fine • show. An anonymous donor sent a handsome silver cup for competition next season, and Messrs. Lamont and E. Maud also offered trophies. The -principal prizewinners were: —lorangi, Prize, Little Jim, Walrlki, Moana, Dclville and Victory In the keel class, Spray, Starlight, Wairere, Winifred and Marie in the centreboard class, and Qieen March, Rona, Cupid, Secret, Kismet and Desert Gold in the small classes, with Romance and Miss Alberta in the launches. The hall was tastefully draped with bunting, supper being served about 10 p.m., after which dancing was continued .till 12 o'clock, the music being supplied by Hyde's Band. '
