Gillett, of Hamilton, was fined £1 -and costs at the Ohakune Magistrate's Court for sending liquor into a | no-license district Avithout notifying the clerk of the Court of the nature and quantity of the liquor. R. J. McKehzie, also of Hamilton, was similarly charged and fined the same amount. The police said that hotelkeepers were certainly not very careful, and .did not' go to much trouble to acquaint them-, selves with the licensing laAVs of the King Country. Neither of the defendants had been previously- com-icted, ;7 and the fines Avere light'only on this , ; occasion. It Avas intended in future to make the penalty for such offences more seA-ere. • • •': _-_
