RESIGNATION OF COUNCIL. RECONSIDERATION DECLINED. (By TeleeraDn.—Prese.Association.) CHRISTCHHKCH, Sunday. • •At a meeting of the New Zealand-Boxing Council telegrams were received from the Northern and Wellington Associations -in connection with the announcement that the council had resignei. ' They asked that the council should remain in office until the annual conference in August. • The council reports that the following resolution was passed:— "In view of the impossibility of administering the' sport properly under the new rules (as already Indicated by circular) and the disloyal attitude adopted toward it by come of the (Associations and their representatives, the council cannot see its way to accede to the request of Auckland and Wellington to continue in office." CURRAN DEFEATS BROWN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Sunday. George Curran (Wellington) won the featherweight championship of New Zealand last night, defeating Bert, i Brown (Hamilton) on points in fifteen rounds. The margin in Curran's favour was very email. Lin. Robinson (Gisborne) defeated Freddie Smith (Wellington) on points in a ten-round professional contest. Smith was. outclassed all the way. COLLINS DEFEATS BRADLEY. SYDNEY, May 18. At the Stadium Harry Collins defeated Archie Bradley in 15 rounds for the Australian heavyweight title. Bradley's towel was skied. The contest .was.the.best seen in recent years, and was desperately fought. Collins had the worst of the first five rounds, but'after this he outboxed Bradley, and In the fifteenth, after flooring him once, •punished him so severely that he was unable to continue.—(A. and N.Z.
