SYDNEY. May 18. New South Wales defeated the Canadian Soccer team by five goals to two, in the presence of IS.OOO spectators. The visitors' display was disappointing and lacked the sparkle of the previous . week. Their altered tactics misfired, the team substituting cross-fleid transfers for short passing, which was so effective in the previous game. Mosher was off-colour in the early stages of the game and allowed a couple of goals which should have been saved. Masters was included in the local forwards, and with Bourke proved a veritable thorn in the Canadians' side. The local team's speed was in marked contrast with the comparatively dispiriting exhibition of their opponents. It is contended that the Canadians ore using their time for sight-seeing, which should be devoted to serious training.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) CHINESE IN AUSTRALIA, SYDNEY, May 17. It is stated that endeavours are being made to arrange several games locally with the Chinese Association footballers, before they leave for New Zealand.—(A. and N.Z.)
