A BOGUS V.C.

KING CONFERS CROSS. SOLEMN MILITARY FUNERAL. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 30. Nine years ago, Corporal Herbert Richardson settled in Aberdeen and claimed that he was the only Canadian to win the Victoria Cross in the Boer War, which was recently presented by His Majesty in haste. Now, seven weeks after his death, it is discovered the man was an imposter, masquerading as a dead Canadian of the same name. The military authorities did not question the bona fides, and accorded him an impressive funeral with military honours.
