MORPHIA TRAFFIC.
DRUGS SEIPI»E_D VIA ___?___. In connection with "the hearing of the _barse against a Japanese merchant, Yafukichl Jliyagwa, ot Belsize Park. Hampstead, of unlawfully procuring DOOlb of muriate of morphia at the Mansion House, a further charge of unlawful possession- of 43 grains of morphine hydrochloride was preferredMt. Roome, for the Public Prosecutor, ■aid that corjesipondenc- had been intercepted by the Post Office between Mljaswa snd a firm ait Basle, Switzerland, referring to shipments of goods from Marseilles. Police Inspector Mcbolls went to Marseilles, and in a bonded warehouse there ■aw nine cases marked with a shipping mark that had been arranged for by Itlyagwa with the Arm In Basle and addressed to Osaka, Japan. One of the cases contained .0 tins, each wrapped in brown paper and .labelled " Tannic Acid, 51b net." When one of the tins was opened it was found to contain a second tin, which closely fitted it and was labelled "Muriate of Morphia Crystals. Poison," with the name of the firm of manufacturing chemists In SouT.h-w._jt London. When seen at his office in Ludgate Hill Miyagwa admitted purchasing the raorphi. to Swf-tzerand and having it sent to Japan, while the bitys of lading were seat to England. Miyaswa was remanded In custody.
