i . SAN FRANCISCO'S RECORD: Two murders and 40 motor car thefts occur every day in San Francisco, according to a member' of, the police force of that city, who is in Sydney -on holiday. I Prisoners, he • says, are sleeping in I the corridors of the big Quentin' gaol I because it is hopelessly overcrowded. But the prisoners are treated better than here, having spring beds and toilet sets. Chinese, the visiting policeman states, are the worst offenders in murders. Feuds among the different societies never end, and with such great secrecy are crimes committed, that the police are absolutely' baffled. Italians, ■ too, have their feuds, but the most dangerous criminals are the Mexicans:
