PERSONAL.

-Mr. R. W. Blagg and Mr. D. Francis, of London, returned from Rotorua yesterday. They are at the Grand Hotel. Lieut.-Colonel A. G. McKenzhj, D.5.0., has had the Colonial Auxiliary Forces oflicers' decoration conferred upon him.

Dr. and Mrs. J. Valentine, oi Turua, are among the guests staying at tlie Central Hotel.

Mr. F. G. Davies, of Dargaville, and Mr. A. LMlrieh, of New Plymouth, are staying at Stonehurst.

Judge W. E. Rawson, of the Native Lands Court, was a passenger for Wellington by the express last evening. His Honor, Mr. Justice Reed, is expected to arrive in Auckland from Wellington to-morrow morning. His Honor, Mr. Justice MacGregor, left Wellington for Gisborne yesterday to preside at the sittings of the Supreme Court there.

Mr. Abraham, of Palmerston North, and Mr. Dalziel, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning and left for Rotorua by the express to-day. Mr. G. S. Mitchell has been appointed .Inspector of Machinery, Surveyor of Ships, and Examiner of Engineers under the Shipping Act. Messrs. I. S. Smail, R. Lovell Smith, and H. Anderson, of Christchurch, and J. Leggo, of Nelson, are staying at the Central Hotel.

Mr. E. E. Gillon, chief mechanical engineer to the New Zealand Railways, left Auckland for Wellington last evening. Mr. D. G. Morrison, of Wellington, Mr. I. Simson. of Karaki, and Mr. G. J. George, of Wellington, are staying at Cargen.

Mr. Tlieo Paterson. brother of the Rev. John Paterson, of St. Paul's Cathedral, Christchurch, will occupy the pulpit at St. James' Church for the next two months commencing td-morrow.

Captain W. W. Stuart, late Government Weather Observer at Auckland, has reported at Wellington, to assist tlie Acting Nautical Adviser, Captain Whiteford, during the absence of Captain Hooper in Ross Dependency waters.

Mr. V. E. Stanton, Area Organiser ot the Auckland Prohibition Council, left | for Adelaide uy the Ulimaroa on Fri- ' day. and will be returning with his' family tn\ January. The Rev. G. Jack- | son will be acting organiser in Mr. Stanton's absence. !
