WIDOWS WITH CHILDREN.
BETTER PENSION SUGGESTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Sunda)-. More liberal children's pensions were advocated yesterday by the Hon. G. J. Anderson, who said that the country at present was spending a larger sum in the payment of various pensions, one of which was to widows. The term "widows' pensions," he said, was a misnomer, as it war. really a children's pension. He spoke hopefully of the prospects of effecting a remedy of many grievances brought. Under his notice, by the making of provision for giving. a wider scope to the Minister and magistrates when no allowance was made by law. Mr. Anderson said that although no other country was doing as much as New Zealand in regard to pensions, he ' thought that more attention should be paid to children who were left unprovided for, and to this end he would work when submitting new- pensions proposals next session.
