SOME DISTINGUISHED VISITORS. Lieutenant-Colonel and _Irs. Surtor, of the Salvation Army, who arrived here by the Niagara to-day from Sydney, have been in India for some years on missionary service, and have be.:i touring Australia with a party of Indian and Cingalese Army officer-. The party consists of Lieutenant-Colon* I Samaravera (Cingalese/. Adjutant Sartooiam (Indian), aci Captain Jaya- . wansa (Cingalese!. "The tour in Anstralia." said Lietifn-ant-Colonel Sirttor has been very sur- ( eessful. and the party have, been well , received and heartily welcomed a* fellow citizens of the British Empire and as Salvationists. They are coni- , mencing a. New Zealand tour in. Weilington. and will travel through the Dominion. The Indian and Cingalese , officers are representative of three thou- , sand officers and teachers, the majority being Indians, who are conducting Sal- , vation army operations in India and '_ Ceylon. Their work there is three-fold. evangelical, social and educational, and . the extent of the work, it can be said, _ indicates that Salvation Army methods axe suitable for Empire enterprise."
