i • WAIHI-MATAURA CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIIII, this day. At the annual meeting of the W.-iihi-Mataura Cricket Club the report and statement of accounts were received and adopted. The report showed that the club had not proved successful last season iv winning hack the challenge shield which it had held for so many years, hut hopes were expressed that success would crown its effort*, in the coming season. Mr. Magntissen's bat for the best batting average j had been won by F. Collins with 30.37. the I runner-up being J. Thorpe (14.71. who won Mr. McDades medal. In the bowling illvlsion McDade won the Davies medal with 5.40, L. G. Leopold (8.00) coming next. Mr. Magnussen's trophies (2) for the highest number of catches were won by McDade and Manning (six each), Leopold and Hales (live each) being second. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: —Patron, Mr. J. Connolly; president, Mr. G. Warm; vice-presidents, •Messrs. Mafifleld. Richardson. A. R. Richards, A. E. Robinson. A. MeLeod, R. White and F. Speak; selection committee, the captain ami vice-captain; delegates to the Association Executive, Messrs. Davies and Wallace: officfal scorer, Mr. C. Capper: secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. M. Wallmilt. The appointments of umpire, captain and vice-captain were deferred until the first club match.
