MYSTERIOUS "DIFFERENCE."

WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY DELIBERATES. CASE OF REV. ROBT. WOOD. "The Wellington Presbytery deliberated and debated their differences with the Rev. Robert Wood for nearly three I hours," says the "Dominion," but the I cause of "tfeo" difference" is not clear: from reports available. The greater i part of the discussion was taken in i camera. The Rev. Robert Wood j appeared before the Presbytery and presented an- appeal against certain dc- j cisions agreed to by the Presbytery at a previous nn "ting. Several memlwrs . doubted whether the Presbytery would be abiding by the rules to have the : appeal read. The Moderator, the Rev. : W. J. Comrie. stated that the Rev. ; Wood bad not the right to make a complaint because he was not a member of • the Court. At this stnge the Moderator asked i the Presbytery whether it wanted the ; ease discussed" in private or in public. A motion was put and it'was decided ■ to hold the discussion in camera. i After a lengthy debate it was decided: "That the Wood case be transmitted to ; the General Assembly (which is to meet at Christchurch in November)." Dr. j Gibb and the Revs. It. Inglis and S. Robertson Orr were chosen to prepare ■ the case and state it before the General ' Assembly on behalf of the Presbytery. In regard to an accusation stated to have been made by the Rev. Robert < Wood against the clerk of the Presbytery, the Rev. R. Inglis, in connection with an extract of minutes supplied to Mr. Wood, the Presbytery passed the fol- ' lowing motion: "That the Presbytery ' expresses its full confidence in the Rev. ' R. Inglis as Presbytery clerk, who in ( the extract minutes sent by him to the Rev. Robert Wood followed the usual i practice of the Church. It offers Mr. Inglis its sincere sympathy in the i attack made on him by the Rev. R. , Wood."
