LARGE AREA INt">TDATED. TE AROHA. this day. Recent heavy rain caused the Waihou River to overflow its banks. The local sports grounds are mostly under water, and slight loss of stock is reported in the Manawaru and ffordonton districts. In the upper reaches of the river cattle are still seeking high ground. Between Te Aroha and Paeroa, Main Road swamp lands are well covered. Last evening rain fell and a gale prevailed but the wind has sincp abated. The river is rising rapidly and is level to the concrete road.
