OBITUARY.

MRS. MYRA DENXISS. An old resident of the Auckland district. Mrs. Myra Denniss, died at Kaitaia recently." aged 78 years. She was r born in South Lincolnshire, and at the I age of 19 years came to New Zealand, residing at" Otahuhu until her marriage with the late Mr. J. B. Denniss. They settled at Kamo, where Mrs. Denniss spent 54 years of her life. For the last six years" she lived with her daughter, Mrs." W. J. Dent, at Kaitaia. Five out of eleven children survive their parents. There are thirty grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. MR. JOHN DAVIES. ; The death occurred in Hamilton on Tuesday of Mr. John Davies. in his 82nd year. Mr. Davies was born in Birmingham, and emigrated to Victoria in 1858. Five years later he took part in the rush to the Otago goUlfields. In ISC4, lie joined the 4th Waikato Regiment at the time of the Maori war. He served with the forces for two yeais and obtained a military grant at Claudelands. then known as Kirikiriioa. where he lias lived for 58 years. He was married in 1871 .to the daughter of the late Mr. K. Henry, sister of Mr. D. Henry, of Hamilton, and he leaves a widow and two sons and seven daughters. MRS. A. L. MELDRUM. Advice has been received by cable tiy relatives in Whangarei of the death of Mrs. A. T.. Meklruni, at her home, Kireaple. -St. Andrew's. Scotland. Mrs. Meldrum. who wae in her 87th year, arrived in New Zealand in 1842, when six years old. She was the mother of I Brigadier-General Meldrum, now a | stipendiary magistrate at Greymouth, j and of Mr. David Meldrum. of Wanganui. I The daughters were Mrs. T. Bedlington, j who is at present on a visit with her j daughter to Great Britain, and Mrs. j Beroit. of Kamo. | I
