TRAGEDY OF MUSICIAN'S LOST POWERS.
Having come to the conclusion at the age of 70 that he was no longer able to compose music, Jules Savart "committed suicide by tbrow%g himself Into tbe River Meuse, near Charleville. The story of bis life was tragic. Since a boy student of music big sole ambition was to have one of bis works produced at the Paris Opera House, but. although be composed many operas, be failed to nave one performed In Paris. A few years ago Savart's wife was killed in a railway accident, and he had the tragic experience of finding her body among the wreckage of the train. He lost bis reason for a time, but recovered, and continued to work until a few days ago, when tbe told a friend. "I can work no longer: I have gone wrong; I am going to Join my wife."
