A case arising out of a dispute about the tale of a business was decided yesterday by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M. The claim was by J. R. F. dimming (Mr. Biernacki) to recover £200 from J. G. Colquhoun (Mr. Blomfield). The evidence was to the effect that plaintiff paid defendant £300 and a p.n. for £75 for the business. The ground for the claim was the allegation that the takings were legs than was represented, also that the stock was of inferior quality. This was denied by defendant, and after hearing a number of witnesses Mr. Cutten gave judgment for the defendant (not plaintiff, as previously reported). Costs, £12 12/, were allowed the defendant.
New Plymouth ie just concluding its campaign for the Sir Arthur Pearson memorial fund. Asked for a quota of £800, the committee expects to conclude with the figure at £1125, including £50 from the school children and £92 from the Taraiiaki 'Rugby Union. A citizens' committee in Wanganui, with the assistance of the Swankers' Club, in embarking on a campaign to raise £1500. The total amount collected throughout New Zealand to date ia £33,550.
Of 8455 crates of cheese manufactured by the Manawaru cheese factory of the Xew Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, during the past season, no lesq than 8450 -were graded first claes, and only five second. The announcement, when made at a meeting of suppliers, yesterday, was received with loud applause.
