POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S;M.) EJECTED FROM THE GODS. After John Curran (77) had 'been fined 40/ in default three days, and Walter Porter (28) 60/ in default seven days for getting drunk too often, a wild-eyed man who gesticulated and swung hie arms was placed in the dock to explain how he came to swear so loudly on being, ejected from the gods at the Opera House last night. David Mclvor (37) eaid to be down from the gumfields, was the man who caused all the trouble. According to the story of the ushers (also ejectors) Mclvor had persisted in smoking a cigarette after a long swig from a .beer bottle. When asked to retire gracefully he had refused, so he ■was uplifted 'bodily and 'borne unceremoniously to the door. When lie arrived downstairs Mclvor made the chill night air turn 'hot with the fury of his words. But Mclvor told a very different yarn. "Look here," he eaid to the usher, "my methods of ejectment differ entirely from yours. I was hurled (swinginghis arms out over the dook) downstairs! Hustled down three nights! Like'that (demonstrating).
A.few questions..from the magistrate elicited the fact that accused was not living with his wife -and children. His Worship thought -Melvor's entertaining ability would., be appreciated at Mt. Eden, and the reward for his unprogrammed number was seven days swinging hie arms with a stone-hammer in his hands. OTHER BUSINESS. ■ Only two cases made up the remainder of a light Tuesday calendar, and both of these were adjourned. Thomas George Ward (23) was remanded to appear at Palmerston* North on a charge of having stolen stove polish valued at £5 8/, the property of Marie Louisa Beals. Thomas Hayes, a young man, was remanded for a week "on a charge of failing to comply with the terms of hie probationary license, and the theft of 12 tins of polish and an oak box, of a total value of £2 7/, the property of the Pacific Varnish Company.
