Tiie Waitemata County Council at it = meeting yesterday afternoon did not I view favourably' the proposal of the Government that the. control of the consumptive sanatoria should be handed over to the hospital boards. It was pointed out that any increased liability on the part of the hospital boards thar would be occasioned by a change of control, as suggested, would fall upon the contributing local bodies. It was decided that the council's representative at the coming counties' conference should oppose the proposal. During tlie week there were 22S people out of employment in Auckland according to registrations at the Labour Department, compared with 239 for the previous week. Of these sixteen are only fit for light duties. Labourers form the great bulk of the unemployed, there being 148 requiring work. The other trades and occupations represented are: Cooks anil stewards, drivers, and litters and turners, eight each: clerical workers, farm labourers, painters and seamen, six; storenien, four; butchers, carpenters, and engine-drivers, two: and blacksmiths, boilermakers, bookbinders, eoachbuilders, firemen, jrooer-, motor-engineers, photographers, slaughtermen and wool sorters one each. Twenty-three men fit for heavy work were placed in employment during the week. There is no known remedy which is 50 successful as Nazol in counteracting the influence of the germs which produce hoarseness, sore throats, sneezing, md running a& ti# nose*—.lAii •
