At mi adjourned meeting ot the Waitemata County Council, held yesterday, details of a new policy in regard to'roads maintenance which are to be adopted were outlined. Previously the upkeep of all roads, including tile main roads, has been a charge upon the respective riding funds. Now it lias been decided that in future the care of certain of the principal riding roads shall be charged to the general county funds. These charges will be made only by special order. The council's engineer was instructed to report on the question of obtaining new machinery and road making plant, including a new steam roller. Smith and Caughey's Great Winter Clearance Fair commences on Monday morning next. Doors open at 9 o'clock sharp. Great money-saving opportunity.
