WIFE LEAVES HOME.
OBJECTS TO BACKBLOCKS. ORDERED TO RETURN. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. "That 6hc left him because she objected to living a life in the backblocks," was the statement made by a school teacher named Hargreavc Barry de Hamel when applying for an order for restitution of rights against his wife, Maude Netlisdale de Hamel, before Mr. Justice Herdman to-day. Petitioner, who is a middle-aged man, said he married his wife, who was much his junior, at Auckland in October, 1920. They lived subsequently at Tauranga and Rotorua. When he was moved to Russell she refused to go with him, stating that she would not live in the backblocks. His Honor: What were you relations when living together. Petitioner: It was a ease of an old man marrying a young girl. She wanted to live at home with her people at Kohimarama, and I could not get oil with them. An (__er that respondent shall return to her husband within 21 days was made.
