DAVIS CUP MATCH.
HAWAII OR MAINLAND. (Received 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The American and Hawaiian Lawn Tennis. Association cabled to Australia asking that the match against Hawaii be played there. Australia opposed t'hie ■>n account of the fortnight's delay entailed in breaking tho journey, and also because Anderson is not used to an asphalt court, which would necessi- j ♦nte a change of strokes. It is also con- j tended that by playing in America the j Australians would have an opportunity of practice on grass courts. The draw for the first round is: Australia v. Hawaii, and Canada v. Japan. There is no bye, as was previously announced. — (A. ami X.Z. Cable.)
