TAKAPUNA FERRIES.
FARES TO BE REDUCED. The concession fares on the Takapuna terry service are to be reduced before the month ends. This decision was reached about a fortnight afro, when the directors of the Ferry Company determined that the charge for a 12-trip card should b< , ..3/. being a reduction of 1/ on the existing rate and a reduction of 2/ on the rate prevailing in ilav of last year when a drop in the charge similar to the present one was made. A deputation of Takapuna residents waited upon the company before the intention of the directors in regard to cheaper fares was known, and a request was made for the continuance of the morning run and evening run of the ferries which have been discontinued for the winter months. The deputation was given the option of accepting the reductioin in fares or the reintrodnotion of the two tripe. It was decided to drop the request for the extra trips and accept the cheaper concession card.
