THE AGE OP METHUSELAH.
(To the Bditor.) Si r ,—The discovery by scientists (of which we read in Saturday's "Star"! that in the days of Methuselah a month of 29* days was counted as a year, and that "the "old man was really only 79, should make us deeply thankful to be living in a day when we have a society for the protection of women and children, as by the scientists' reckoning, I find that Enoch—the father of Methuselah —was only five years of age when his son was born, so it is evident the poor little chap must have been married and called on to shoulder the responsibility of a home at the tender age of four. And unfortunately this is not the worst case. By the same reckoning Salah, Peteg, Nahor. and others are proved to have scarcely reached the age of two when their sons were born. In view of this discovery it is strange that the Bible gives us in the days of Noah (Gen. 8) a twelve month year, verse 5 gives us to the 10th month, and then we have at least a further 54 days, which would take us nearly to the end of the 12th month, and after that in verse 13 we have what is evidently the beginning of another 12 month year.—l am. etc.. LET GOD BE TRUE.
