The Opotiki Jockey Clubs annual meeting which concludes Ihe country fixtures, took place on the Takapuna Jockey Club's course ■at the North Shore on Saturday. The weather was tine, and there was a good attendance. The track had benefited by the recent rains, and was in good order.

Shellshock, Oranga and Flowing Bowl were quickest to the first fence, and once over Flowing Bowl went out to make the running, Oranga being alongside of hlra passing the stand, and then came Guerre a Mort, Never Despair. Kinkora and Shellshock, with Totara Jack last. Going along the back Flowing Bowl lost his position. Guerre n Mort going into the lead showing the way across the top, with Ornnga as his nearest attendant, and Never Despair handy, the others helng beaten. Oranga beaded Guerre a Mort as they came Into the straight, and getting over the ]n»t hurdle safely drew out to win by a length and a-half. Guerre a Mort beat Never Despair by three lengths for second honours. Shellshock was fourth, nnd then came Flowing Bowl and Kinkora. with Totara Jack last. Time. 3.10 2-3. Oranga was favourite. (Messrs. Evans and Maria), 7.9 —Keeslng 3 Also started: Cool Stimulants 9.5. Archie S.fS, Sheffield 8.2, Smoke Concert 7.0, Winning Lass 7.9, and Tresor 7.7. When the tapes were released Tresor, Sheffield and Smoke Concert were quickest to begin, Smoke Concert going on in the lead, showing the way along the back, with Sheffield, Florent. Bute Sound and Tresor racing In that order, and Cool Stimulants at the head of the others. Bute Sound moved up crossing the top, and ran past Smoke Concert entering the straight, being flrst to turn for home, where Cool Stimulants was handy, and Elsie Aroha could be seen coming through very fast. In the run to the judge Cool Stimulants and Elsie Aroha challenged, a great race seeing Cool Stimulants get the decision by a neck from the fast finishing Kltjc Aroha. with Bute Sound a neck away third. Florent was fourth, and then came Tresor and Smoke Concert. Time, 1.28 1-5. Cool Stimulants was favourite. Cool Stimulants failed to draw the weight, being one nnd a-quarter poundß short, Elsie Aroha being placed first, Bute Sound second, and Florent third. After a lengthy hearing the stewards deckled to pay out the stake to the owner of Cool Stimulants. RACES AT WESTPORT. ('By Telegraph—rress Association.) WESTPORT, Saturday. The Westport Jockey Club's annual meeting was held to-day in line weather, and before a large attendance. The totalisator handled £0360, compared with £401.3 last year.
