KIRKWOOD IN FLORIDA.
WIW OVER HAOEN. (Received .0.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 8. At St. Augustine (Florida) Kirk wood won the open tournament with a total of 283 strokes, which is nine under the course par for four rounds. ■ Kirkwood's victory came after , a thrilling duel with lliigen, who whittled the Australian's seven stroke lead at the start of the final round down to three. Hagen played spectacularly, but Kirk wood was steady, find scored on "Eagle" two at the eleventh hole for the first time in the course's history. Hagen, with a tie within reach, halved the next three holes with two pars,, one "Birdie," but Kirkwood sunk a 20ft putt on the sixteenth for a "Birdie" two, adding another on the last green for a lead of three.
