DOMINION FINANCE.

REVENUE LARGEirr INCREASED EXPENDITURE CONSIDERABLY REDUCED. (By Telegraph.—Frees Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The following statement regarding the finances of the Dominion for the current .financial year was made by the Premier to-day. The total revenue for 11 months ended February 28, was £22,440,189, for the corresponding period in the previous year £20,226,801, an increase of £2,203,388. Expenditure for eleven months ended February 28, totalled £22, 588,243, and expenditure for the corresponding period in the previous year totalled £25,042,314, a decrease of £2,454,071. Taking the two together there was an improvement of £4,667,459.

The effect of saving* and reductions in expenditure is indicated by these figures, but in order to stabilise the position and keep national expenditure within national income, and so enable us to reduce taxation, continuance of strict supervision over spending power is essential.
