ELLERSLIE QUEEN CARNIVAL.

THE CORONATION CEREMONY. Hlerslie Parish Hall was crowded last evening to witnese the ceremony of crowning the Carnival Queen,' Miss E. Mclsaacs, the League candidate. ' The queen, with her maids of honour, were handsomely robed, and the ■ procession up the hall was an effective display. There was a fanfare of trumpets, and the sub-" jects cried aloud "Queen Emmie! Queen Emmie! Long live the Queen!" and her majesty was given authority over her farflung kingdom, extending "even from the Harp of Erin to the ru<r<red rocky confines of Mt. Wellington." The queen's train-bearers were Joyce and Connie Howell. ••■

After the coronation had been completed the queen conferred honours, the chairman of the board being raised, to the dignity of "Duke of One Tree Hill," the secretary to the committee being made "Earl of Scoria Pit," the secretary of the Fire Brigade Committee - "Baron Hydrant and Knight Commander of the Garter" to enable him to keep up the hose; and the popular Mr. M. J. Bain was invested as "Lord Mayor of Ellerslie." The local publican was called to the Bar with the LL.D. degree (Lion, Lager and Dominion), with the hope that he would keep his former good spirits.
