BANK MANAGER FAREWELLED.
M3R. .1. P. DON'AUD. A valedictory dinner was tendered to Mr. J. P. Donald, manager of the National Bank of New Zealand at Xewton, on Tuesday evening at the Tiffin. Mr. Donald lias been connected with the (Newton branch of the bank for the past 15 years, but owing to ill-health, he is taking a trip abroad. He leaves tomorrow for Australia, Great Britain and Europe on a twelve months" tour. On behalf of the clients of the bank a gold watch was presented to Mr. Donald by *Mr. M. J. Bennett. Mrs. Donald was also the recipient of a gold wristlet watch. Gratifying references were made to the courtesy displayed by the manager and the kindly relations which had existed between him ana clients. <He expressed the hope that Mr. Donald would be much benefited by his trip abroad. . "in reply, Mr. Donald returned his sincere thanks for the token ofe.te«i which had been conveyed to him and the mark of appreciation which had been shown towards him. Ihe occasion was one of the pleasantest evenings he had spent. ■A.n enjoyable musical programme was provided in the course of the evening.
